Anthony Barylla is staying with third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue for the long term. The defender extended his contract, which expires at the end of the season, until June 30, 2027, the club announced on Thursday. The 26-year-old only recently returned to training with the Erzgebirge side after having to take a break since mid-September due to a thigh injury.
"The contract extension at this point in time immediately after his injury break is also a vote of confidence and a signal of the central role Anthony Barylla plays in our plans. He's just entering his prime and is versatile in defense and always reliable," said sporting director Matthias Heidrich.
