The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has lost its season opener. The charges of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore lost 76:80 (38:47) at home to SSV ratiophaerm Ulm on Sunday. Ben Saraf (21), Alfonso Plummer (20) and Noa Essengue (15) played the biggest part in Ulm's success. Jaron Johnson (22) and Aher Uguak (15) scored the most points for the home side.
The club from Saxony got off to a flying start and led 14:6 after five minutes, but then the game's thread snapped. Ulm was eleven points ahead at the break. Chemnitz then only managed to close the gap to 49:50 (24'), but was not able to take the lead once over the course of the game. That was primarily due to its poor three-point percentage. Only six out of 25 attempts landed in Ulm's basket.
