For Bundesliga professional Dani Olmo, his Spanish selection jersey with the number 10 at the European Championship is something very special. "It's the number of the greats, of Pele, Maradona and now Messi," the 26-year-old international of the title contenders told the portal "Marca". "Wearing the 10 fills me with pride. I already had it as captain of the U21s. This number carries a lot of history."
The RB Leipzig attacker, who has the number 7 for the Champions League participants, also recalled his compatriot Cesc Fàbregas. He captained Spain in 100 of his 110 international appearances and wore the number 10 shirt in the Furia Roja's 2010 World Cup triumph in South Africa and the two European Championship victories in 2008 and 2012. "Cesc gave us a lot of joy with that number. Hopefully we can do the same at this European Championship," said Olmo.
