Football international Lena Lattwein has undergone knee surgery and will therefore miss her club VfL Wolfsburg in the race for the German championship for several weeks. The Wolfsburg team made the announcement on Thursday. This is the second piece of bad news for the 23-year-old midfielder in the space of a few days following her non-nomination for the German national team's Nations League finals, which begin on Friday evening with the semi-final against France.
Lattwein had already suffered a knee contusion before the winter break, which has caused recurring problems ever since. As a result, she underwent surgery on the bursa of her right knee on Thursday. Her participation in the Bundesliga top match against German champions FC Bayern Munich on March 23 is therefore in danger.
