The Highfield rock and pop festival has begun at Lake Störmthal near Leipzig under a bright blue sky and 30 degrees. Until Sunday, it's three days of partying, listening to your favorite artists and relaxing by the lake. A total of around 50 bands will be performing, including Peter Fox, Rise Against, Cro, Mando Diao and Macklemore. According to the organizers, they are expecting around 30,000 visitors.
The largest rock festival in Saxony, according to the organizers, is almost sold out. "There are still a few tickets available for each day at the box office," emphasized a spokeswoman. The festival pass for all days costs 199 euros, day tickets are available for 99 euros.
Own beach attracts visitors for refreshment
Thousands of visitors had already flocked to the festival site on Thursday morning. The Highfield Festival has its own beach, which is also used for small concerts, beach volleyball and other activities. Visitors can swim in the lake between concerts, lie on the beach and enjoy music on the beach stage. In the late evening, however, the water patrol closes off the swimming area for safety reasons.
The Highfield is being held for the 25th time. Since 2010, the festival has been based at Lake Störmthal, previously the reservoir in Hohenfelden in Thuringia provided the backdrop for the festival.
587 toilets and a Ferris wheel
Highfield lasts a total of three days. A total of around 50 artists and bands perform on three stages. Guests can look forward to 57 food and drink stands, a total of 587 toilets and 317 garbage cans. If you want to experience the festival from above, you can climb into one of the 24 gondolas on the Ferris wheel.
