The German biathletes are starting the first home World Cup of the new year with great self-confidence. In the sprint on Thursday (14:20/ZDF and Eurosport) in Oberhof, all eyes will be on Franziska Preuß. The 30-year-old wants to defend her yellow jersey with her next top result. So far, she has two victories and four other podium places to her name.
Selina Grotian also wants to confirm the first World Cup victory of her career. The 20-year-old won the mass start ahead of Preuß in Le Grand-Bornand before Christmas. Local hero Vanessa Voigt is not yet fully fit after an illness. Youngster Julia Tannheimer, World Cup returnee Sophia Schneider and Julia Kink will also be competing.
