FC St. Pauli coach Alexander Blessin wants to annoy his former club RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Sunday. The game (17:30/DAZN) at the Saxons is "a chance to perhaps make them a little angrier", said Blessin. The background to this is that Leipzig have recently shown weaknesses, especially against teams from the bottom half of the table.
Blessin worked in RB's youth academy for many years. He pointed out that the Saxons, who have been particularly unsuccessful in the Champions League, have been "a bit of a rumble" in recent times. In recent weeks, RB had only picked up one point each at bottom-placed Bochum and 14th-placed Union Berlin, even losing 3-0 in Bochum.
St. Pauli without two key players
The mood at Hamburg is dampened by the absence of defender Manolis Saliakas (thigh) and attacking player Morgan Guilavogui (ankle) for several weeks due to injury.
The Kiez club put in two strong performances against RB in the first half of the season. St. Pauli fought out a 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga and lost 4-2 in Leipzig in the second round of the DFB Cup.
