The BSV Sachsen Zwickau women's handball team have missed out on an early place in the Bundesliga. After winning 32:29 at Buxtehuder SV a week ago, the team of coach Norman Rentsch lost the second game in the "Best of Three" series 25:26 (14:12) in front of their home crowd. Isa Ternede (5/1) drained a seven-meter penalty with the final buzzer to force a decisive third game, which will take place in Buxtehude on May 3.
In addition to Ternede, Levke Kretschmann (5), Charlotte Kähr (4) and Lotta Heider (4/1) played the biggest part in the success of the team from Lower Saxony. Blanka Kajdon (12/6) and Kaho Nakayama (5) scored the most goals for Zwickau.
Although BSV had to do without its top scorer Arwen Gorb, the hosts got off to a successful start. Zwickau led 8:5 after 14 minutes and maintained that lead until 20 minutes before the final whistle. Buxtehude turned the game around with a 5:1 run from 19:17 (40') to 20:22 (47'). The outstanding Kajdon was able to equalize with 42 seconds remaining, but was no longer able to prevent the third decisive game.
