The Saxons are not getting into their stride this season. 20 turnovers and a poor free throw percentage lead to defeat in Heidelberg.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team is simply not getting into its stride this season. The players of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore were eliminated in the round of 16 of the BBL Cup after losing 73:78 (35:42) at MLP Academics Heidelberg.

The outstanding Ryan Mikesell (29), Damariae Horne (13) and Michael Weathers (11) played the biggest part in the home side's success. Victor Lamont Bailey Jr. (22), Oliver Nkamhoua, Aher Uguak and DeAndre Landsdowne (12 each) scored in double figures for Chemnitz.

The club from Saxony fought its way back into the game after a 10:19 false start after the first quarter and was 27:24 ahead after 15 minutes, but made too many mistakes overall. With a total of 20 turnovers, the Niners repeatedly set up their opponents.

Chemnitz managed to tie the scores at 60:60 in the 33rd minute, but was not able to take the lead once more. With the score at 72:76 in the final minute, Jonas Richter from Chemnitz missed both free throws and, like his teammates, showed nerves at the line. Chemnitz was only able to convert 20 of its 30 free throws.
