RB Leipzig's female soccer players give away victory in Leverkusen

The RB Leipzig women's soccer team gave away their first win after four consecutive Bundesliga defeats in stoppage time. The promoted team only managed a 1:1 (0:0) draw at Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. Vanessa Fudalla took the lead in the 78th minute before Verena Wiederen equalized with a bicycle kick in the third minute of stoppage time.

After the 5-0 defeat at home to Werder Bremen, RB coach Saban Uzun advised his players "not to look at the table. Playing against the top three from the previous season in the first five games and suffering defeats naturally does something to a team that only knows how to win from the previous season," he said.

The team from Saxony, who finished sixth in the table, got off to a good start and had the best chance to take the lead in the 30th minute. Marlene Müller got free through and, instead of finishing herself, laid it off to Lydia Andrade. Her shot from close range was blocked just before the line and Korina Janez's follow-up shot landed on the outside of the net. Fudalla did better after the changeover: She took heart from 30 meters and scored the lead (78'). The visitors then had to concede an equalizer in stoppage time.
