1. FC Union Berlin are preparing for the top match of matchday 20. RB Leipzig will visit the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Saturday (18:30/Sky).
Downward trend
Both teams are on a downward trend. Union have won just one of their last twelve Bundesliga matches. Leipzig are winless in three matches. In addition, RB conceded their seventh Champions League defeat in their eighth game in the top flight at Sturm Graz (0:1) on Wednesday.
Favorites
Leipzig arrive in fifth place in the table with 32 points and therefore as the favorites. Union are 14th with 20 points, their worst position of the entire season.
No goals
Union have failed to score against Leipzig in the last three matches. In the first leg on September 14, it was enough for a 0-0 draw. In the pre-season, the capital club lost in Leipzig (0:2) and at home (0:3). Union only suffered a heavier home defeat against Leipzig in the very first Bundesliga match in the club's history on August 18, 2019 (0:4).
Reunion
Union's defensive midfielder Rani Khedira wore the RB shirt in 54 competitive matches between 2014 and 2017. Ten of those matches took place in Leipzig's first Bundesliga season in 2016/17.
Difference
While Union won a total of six matches against RB in Bundesliga 1 and 2, coach Steffen Baumgart has yet to do so in seven attempts (three defeats and four draws) with his former clubs SC Paderborn and 1. FC Köln.
