The band Karat is celebrating its 50th birthday with a double premiere: exactly half a century after the first concert, the anniversary tour starts in Berlin - and a new album is released at the same time. Karat has also invited musician friends to the tour kick-off at the Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte. They will be sitting in the audience. Singer Claudius Dreilich said about the plans for the anniversary concert: "We will present new songs and pay tribute to old songs."
The band's big hits, such as "Der blaue Planet", "Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn" and "Albatros" were written in the GDR. Dreilich said of the new album entitled "Hohe Himmel" that it was produced in the same way as it was 40 years ago: "Every sound was recorded live. Nothing comes from a PC or AI." For the first time, the band also retreated to a songwriting camp - for a week with the five of them at a lake.
