Following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Brandenburg, the situation has eased. Events with cloven-hoofed animals may be registered again in North Saxony.

A good two weeks after the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Brandenburg, the situation in North Saxony has eased. In compliance with the known biosecurity regulations, events with cloven-hoofed animals are now possible again without restrictions in North Saxony, the district office announced. However, the district's food monitoring and veterinary office (LÜVA) must be informed in writing in advance of every event. Previously, supra-regional events with cloven-hoofed animals had been banned.

"The situation has now eased and the disease has not been able to spread any further. However, owners of cloven-hoofed animals should remain vigilant and consult a vet immediately if there are clinical signs of FMD," emphasized Barbara Lemm, head of the LÜVA in North Saxony.
