Those who want to work as a GP in rural Saxony in the future have until the end of February to apply for a place to study medicine via the rural doctor quota. "The application deadline for the winter semester 2025/2026 as part of the rural doctor quota runs until February 28, 2025," announced the State Directorate of Saxony (LDS) in Chemnitz.
The rural doctor quota gives committed applicants the chance to study human medicine even without a top A-level. "The decisive factor is not just the grades, but above all personal motivation and a clear commitment to later working as a rural doctor," explains LDS President Béla Bélafi. The aim of the program is to improve medical care in rural areas.
After successfully completing their studies and specialist training, graduates commit to working as a GP in Saxony's rural areas for ten years. The study locations are Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz.
