Energie Cottbus are once again top of the table in the 3rd Football League. On Saturday, the team of coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz won 2:0 (1:0) at Arminia Bielefeld. After Lucas Copado gave Cottbus the lead early on (2nd), substitute Maximilian Krauß made it just as quick after the break. The striker finished off a counter-attack immediately after the break to score the visitors' second goal (47').
Dresden can overtake Dresden on Sunday
Energie remain top of the table with their sixth away win of the season, at least until Sunday. Autumn champions Dynamo Dresden will then welcome Viktoria Köln to the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion and could overtake them again with a win.
Energie impressed with their fast-paced attacking play and great willingness to run at the back. The only thing that annoyed coach Wollitz were the snakes of paper that were constantly thrown out of the 1,700 fans in the visitors' block.
Returner Engelhardt replaces an ill Thiele
Returner Erik Engelhardt immediately started for Energie. The new signing took the place of top scorer Timmy Thiele in the center of the attack. Thiele is not yet fit again after a lung disease. It is also uncertain whether the veteran will make it back into the team for next Saturday's derby against Dynamo Dresden.
The upcoming clash is electrifying the entire region. The match has been sold out for weeks, and not only coaching legend Eduard Geyer, who celebrated successes for both clubs, is looking forward to the "treat", as Geyer calls the duel between the neighboring rivals.
