RB Leipzig must face VfB Stuttgart in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. This was the result of the draw at the Dortmund Football Museum. The match will take place on April 1 or 2, while third-division side Bielefeld will host defending champions Bayer Leverkusen in the other semi-final. The final will be played on May 24 in Berlin.
Rumors surrounding Hoeneß
The duel is somewhat explosive. During the week, speculation arose that Leipzig would be interested in Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß. RB coach Rose is the subject of internal criticism and could part ways early in the summer despite having a contract until 2026. Hoeneß can be signed for up to eight million euros using an exit clause, but only by a club with international representation.
Leipzig and Stuttgart have never met in the cup. In the Bundesliga, the Swabians have won the last two home games. Leipzig have reached the semi-finals for the fifth time in the last seven years, with RB winning the cup in 2022 and 2023.
