The Bundesliga club lost its fourth game in the European Cup. The Saxons failed against Derthona primarily due to their weakness in rebounding.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team missed out on an early entry into the Champions League play-offs. Coach Rodrigo Pastore's charges lost their home game against Bertram Derthona Basket by a clear 61:77 (26:38) on Tuesday and so suffered their fourth defeat in this competition in their fifth game. Christian Vital (16), Justin Gorham and Tommy Kuhse (13 each) played the biggest part in the Italians' success. Only Olivier Nkamhoua (19), Aher Uguak (13) and Victor Bailey Jr. (12) scored in double figures for the hosts.

The Niners were not able to take the lead once during the game and were always trailing. After leading 19:12 in the first quarter, the Italians pulled away by the break. Although the German club fought its way back into contention at the start of the third quarter, the visitors produced a 13:0 run to make it 36:56 in the 26th minute and decide the game early on. Chemnitz allowed its opponents a second chance to score far too often and snapped up just 28 rebounds, whereas the Italians snapped up 48 rebounds under both baskets.
