After their success in the derby, Chemnitz also got the year off to a winning start. The Saxons had an easy game against the second-to-last team in the table, who were heavily short of substitutes.

The Niners Chemnitz are making up ground in the battle for a playoff spot in the German Basketball League. Five days after the 82:72 victory in the Central German derby against the Syntainics MBC, the team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore celebrated its second win in a row. It recorded an easy 85:66 (48:27) win against the Frankfurt Skyliners, who were heavily short of substitutes. The most successful scorers for the club from Saxony in front of 4,863 spectators at the Chemnitz Exhibition Center were Aher Uguak with 15 points and William Christmas (14), DeAndre Lansdowne, Eddy Edigin Jr. and Jeff Garrett (10 each).

The home side only needed a short warm-up phase and took the initiative after trailing 4:5. After just nine minutes, they led by double digits for the first time (18:8) against the second-last club in the table. Although the home side failed to capitalize on many chances, it repeatedly got back into the game thanks to mistakes by Frankfurt and led 38:20 with three-and-a-half minutes remaining.

The Niners turned on the heat after the restart and had opened up a 20-point lead for the first time (54:34 in the 24th minute), which they maintained until the end. Head Coach Pastore gave young players a little more playing time in the final minutes.
