Marco Rose wants to remain loyal to his former club and in particular its supporters even after his involuntary departure as coach of RB Leipzig. "I don't need to say goodbye, I'll see you in the stadium or in the most beautiful city in the world," wrote the 48-year-old in a message to fans sent out by the Bundesliga club.
One day after the cup semi-finalists parted company with Rose, the coach bid farewell to his supporters with a quote from French theologian Jean-Baptiste Massillon. "Gratitude is the memory of the heart." He continued: "And I am more than grateful, dear fans, for what we have experienced together and for your extraordinary support for us and me over the past weeks and months." As a native of Leipzig, Rose was held in particularly high regard by the fans.
RB Leipzig parted ways with Rose on Sunday, one day after the 1-0 defeat in the Bundesliga at Borussia Mönchengladbach. After the club slipped to sixth place in the table, Zsolt Löw is now set to take over until the end of the season and lead the club back to a Champions League place.
