FC Erzgebirge Aue is launching a crowdfunding campaign for its home Erzgebirgsstadion. The club announced at a press conference on Friday that a crowdfunding project is underway as of now to keep the name "Erzgebirgsstadion" and not have to give it to a sponsor. Jörg Püschmann, board member for fan affairs, explained, "The 3rd League is no walk in the park financially." In view of this, marketing the stadium name is actually an "economic necessity" for the FCE as well. However, "the offers that are on the table would not represent the values of the buddy club," Püschmann explained.
In order to nevertheless meet the financial challenges, a crowdfunding campaign, which runs until December 3, 2023, is being launched. The donation goal is 250,000 euros. If this goal is reached, the name "Erzgebirgsstadion" can exist for another year. Should a higher sum be reached, the term will be extended accordingly. Fans and companies have the opportunity to purchase fan merchandise for this purpose or send an official donation to the club.
