Gomez extends his contract with Red Bull until 2028

Mario Gomez has extended his contract as Technical Director at Red Bull until 2028. According to dpa information, he will continue to work at the company's site in Munich. From January 1, he will also work alongside Jürgen Klopp, who will take up his position as "Head of Global Soccer" at the drinks group in the new year. The German newspaper "Bild" first reported the news.

Klopp will primarily commute between the RB clubs' locations in Leipzig, New York, Bragantino (Brazil) and Omiya Ardija (Japan), but his expertise is also in demand at English second division club Leeds United and Paris FC, where Red Bull has minority stakes.

Relations with FC Red Bull Salzburg, where the drinks group is officially only a sponsor, are also to be further strengthened. Klopp is to be presented at a press conference at the group's headquarters in Fuschl am See, Austria, on January 7.

The 39-year-old former international Gomez, who played for VfB Stuttgart, Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, has been active in the RB cosmos as Technical Director since 2022.
