Lukas Klostermann's big dream is to take part in the European Championship in his own country. But time is running out for the defender. He will not be involved in the next international matches.

National team player Lukas Klostermann will miss the next two international matches due to his thigh injury. The RB Leipzig defender has been missing since mid-February and will not be fit in time for the clashes with France (March 23) and the Netherlands (March 26). This was confirmed by Leipzig coach Marco Rose on Friday. He is not expected to play until April at the earliest.

"He is making progress. But it was clear from the outset that we wanted to use the international break to integrate him into team training. We'll see if we're ready by then," said Rose. "He was already on the pitch and had the ball on his foot. At the pace at which it is possible with the injury."

Klostermann suffered an injury to his right rear thigh against Borussia Mönchengladbach on February 17. The Bundesliga club is not disclosing the severity of the injury. The 27-year-old already had problems with a muscle injury in his thigh last summer, so they now want to act cautiously.

Since the World Cup in Qatar, the defender has only been in the DFB squad once, playing 45 minutes against Ukraine on June 12, 2023. Klostermann missed the subsequent matches against Poland and Colombia due to the muscle injury. He was not nominated for the last six matches.
