Leipzig are only eleventh in the Bundesliga in the second half of the season. Coach Marco Rose has been criticized, but should be given another chance.

Marco Rose is to remain coach of RB Leipzig for the time being despite the club's mediocre Bundesliga record. According to dpa information, the 48-year-old will lead the warm-up on Sunday morning after the 2-1 defeat to Mainz and will also be given another chance on Saturday in the game at SC Freiburg (18:30/Sky). Sky had initially reported this.

However, it is becoming increasingly clear that Rose will not be moving on in the summer despite having a contract until 2026. RB have slipped to sixth place in the Bundesliga and were disgracefully eliminated from the Champions League in the league phase with just one win. However, Leipzig is on target in the DFB Cup, having reached the semi-finals.

Weak second half of the season

One candidate for the successor is Sebastian Hoeneß, who can leave VfB Stuttgart in the summer due to an exit clause. However, a transfer fee of up to eight million euros is reportedly due, and the club must also be represented internationally. That is still the case for Leipzig, but the Saxons are currently losing sight of their primary goal - qualifying for the Champions League.

Leipzig are only eleventh in the Bundesliga table for the second half of the season. They have won just one of their seven games so far and RB have drawn five. They dropped points against relegation candidates Union Berlin, 1. FC Heidenheim and VfL Bochum. In the coming weeks, however, duels with Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt await.
