Pilot crash lands glider in rapeseed field during flying competition

During a flying competition, a 67-year-old pilot made an emergency landing of his glider in a rapeseed field near Grünhainichen. On Sunday afternoon, the 67-year-old had to land due to air currents and realized too late that he was not heading for a meadow but a rapeseed field, a police spokesman said on Monday morning.

No one was injured during the landing. The aircraft sustained damage to the value of 200 euros. The amount of damage to the rape field is still unclear. According to the police, it was a legitimate landing. The pilot was taking part in a flying competition that started at Zwickau-Planitz airfield.
