RB Leipzig lets Hugo Novoa move to Spain

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig have let former top talent Hugo Novoa move to Spain for good. The 21-year-old striker, who is still the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer in RB club history, is moving permanently to Deportivo Alaves. Previously, Novoa had not been able to establish himself with the Saxons and had been loaned out repeatedly.

Novoa played for FC Villarreal in the second half of last season, but only made appearances in the second team. Prior to that, he had also spent time on loan at FC Basel and FC Utrecht.

Novoa was once regarded as a great talent in Leipzig. In October 2021, he even made a little bit of Leipzig Bundesliga history in a 4-1 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. At 18 years, eight months and 29 days, Novoa replaced national team player Joshua Kimmich as Leipzig's youngest Bundesliga goalscorer, who held this record before his move to FC Bayern Munich.
