Sandra Stark will stay with women's Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for another two years. The 31-year-old has extended her contract until 2027, the club announced. After suffering a thigh injury in the winter training camp, Starke is set to make her comeback against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.
The midfielder moved to Saxony from there in 2023 and has been leading the young team in the Bundesliga as an experienced player ever since. "The contract extension underlines her importance to the team," said Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women's and Girls' Football.
Born in Windhoeck, Starke has played 205 games in the Bundesliga to date and has also played for Chicago Stars FC and six times for the German national team. "We are in a constant process in which I am proud to grow and learn myself," Starke was quoted as saying in a statement.
