For the time being, walker Saskia Feige disregarded other things for her Olympic participation. Now she is changing her focus.

Saskia Feige ends her sporting career at the age of 27. Germany's best walker wants to devote more time to her medical studies in future. "The decision was not easy for me, as I am very attached to the sport and it was a really good time, much of which I will miss. At the same time, however, I think it's a good time," said Feige in a statement from SC DHfK Leipzig.

At the Olympic Games in Paris, the Potsdam native finished tenth in the mixed relay with Christopher Linke. The five-time German champion took bronze at the 2022 European Championships in Munich.

Future as a sports physician?

Feige recently took a year off from her medical studies to concentrate fully on sport. Now the profession is back in the foreground; after all, the budding doctor still has two theoretical and one practical year ahead of her.

"I could well imagine looking after female athletes later on. For example, I am very interested in gynecology in connection with sports medicine. I see an even greater need to research this area in the future," said Feige, who has been competing for SC DHfK since 2021.
