The handball players of BSV Sachsen Zwickau were unable to gain any additional self-confidence for the relegation games against Buxtehuder SV, which begin on April 19. The team in second-last place in the table suffered a clear 24:38 (8:15) home defeat against Thüringer HC in the last regular game of the season and so ended the season in penultimate place. Johanna Reichert (14/7), Rikk Hoffbeck Petersen and Anna Szabo (4 each) played the biggest part in the visitors' success in the Central German duel. Blanka Kajdon (6/3) and Laura Szabo (5/2) scored the most goals for BSV.
The hosts were only able to keep up to some extent up to 4:6 (11th minute). The favored fourth-placed team then pulled 9:4 (18') and seven goals ahead by the break. BSV's Arwen Gorb was shown the red card almost as the half-time whistle blew due to an excessively hard tackle.
The Zwickau side was not able to do much to counter the attacking power of its opponents, who made too many technical mistakes, even after the break. The THC also had the upper hand at goalkeeper. THC's goalkeepers Dinah Eckerle and Christina Lovgren Hallberg kept out eleven shots, while Jovana Kadovic and Barbara Viktorio Gyori in Zwickau's goal kept out just five. At 26:16 (45'), the visitors were ten goals ahead for the first time.
