For Xavi Simons, the loan to Bundesliga club RB Leipzig was the right move. "The decision has paid off. I've developed there," said the Dutch international. "We played at a high level with enormous intensity. That made me a better player."
The 21-year-old was loaned to Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain without an option to buy. RB sporting director Rouven Schröder is currently trying to arrange another loan, as a purchase is not feasible. Simons quickly matured into an undisputed regular. In 32 Bundesliga games, he scored eight goals and set up a further 13. He and the Netherlands will face France in Leipzig on June 21 at the European Championships.
