Dutch international footballer Xavi Simons is likely to stay at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. According to media reports, coach Marco Rose said during a media session at the training camp in the USA: "Apparently, Xavi has decided to take his good year in Leipzig with him for his development and to become a leading player with us and take on responsibility." The "Kicker" and MDR had previously reported on this.
"Considering that it has already been written that his transfer fee is fixed, it doesn't look too bad for us and I'm happy about that," said Rose.
Recently, there had been repeated reports of a possible transfer to FC Bayern. The TV channel Sky reported on Tuesday morning that the Dutchman had decided to stay in Leipzig. Simons was loaned to Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain last season. Both clubs appear to be largely in agreement over an extension. The 21-year-old is still under contract with the French club until 2027.
