The arrival of the England national soccer team for the European Championship is causing some unusual renovations at the golf resort in Blankenhain. "For example, the bar area will be the massage area at the request of the English," resort director Daniel Stenzel told the "Thüringer Allgemeine" newspaper. "And the safety precautions will by no means be less than for the German team. On the contrary."
The German national team prepared for the upcoming home European Championships (June 14 to July 14) at the resort in Weimarer Land from May 26 to 31. Stenzel praised the approachable nature of the DFB squad and also associated a personal highlight with DFB sports director Rudi Völler with the camp. "He found out that it was my grandpa's 95th birthday. He took me aside and said that he would like to congratulate him via video. No sooner said than done. My grandpa Günter is now a star at the retirement home in Nienburg," said the hotel manager.
This week, the English are moving in one by one. "The first squad on June 4, the support staff on the 7th and then the team," said Stenzel. The team is scheduled to arrive on June 10. Banners, stickers and logos have already arrived from the English association.
