Two turbo goals at the start of both halves paved the way for 1. FC Lok Leipzig's success in the 113th local derby against Chemie Leipzig and a place in the semi-finals of the Saxon state cup. The regional league leaders won 4:1 (1:0) in Leutzsch. After Lok captain Djamal Ziane had already punished a misunderstanding in the Chemie home defense with the lead after 17 seconds, Laurin von Piechowski stumbled a free-kick cross into the goal 48 seconds after the restart for the preliminary decision.
An own goal by Tobias Dombrowa (70.) came too late for Chemie, especially as substitute Stefan Maderer (80') restored the two-goal lead and Malik McLemore (86') even increased it with a counter-attack.
In the intense, high-pressing game, which was largely calm in the stands, Lok were initially the dominant team after the two goals. After Chemiker's follow-up, which Dombrowa headed into his own goal completely unchallenged, there was some more tension. However, a well-worked counter-attack by Lok and a clever counter-attack decided the game.
Semi-final draw on Monday
Third-division side FC Erzgebirge Aue had already overcome Chemnitzer FC 2-0 on Saturday. The other semi-finalists are FC Grimma after a comfortable 7-0 win at Motor Marienberg and VfB Empor Glauchau, who defeated FV Dresden Laubegast 3-2 after extra time. The draw for the preliminary round will take place this Monday.
