Bundesliga club RB Leipzig have found a successor for Dani Olmo, who transferred to FC Barcelona. Just one week after Olmo's departure, the Saxons presented Antonio Nusa as a new signing. The 19-year-old Norwegian comes to Leipzig from top Belgian club FC Brugge and has signed a contract until 2029. According to media reports, the transfer fee will be just over 20 million euros.
Bayer Leverkusen and Crystal Palace were also reportedly interested in Nusa. Last year, there are said to have already been concrete negotiations with Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC.
"Antonio fits in perfectly with RB Leipzig's DNA. He is young, capable of development, very ambitious and willing to learn, but on the other hand he has already played around one hundred professional games and has made his mark on both Bruges and the Norwegian national team. That makes him without doubt one of the best players of his age in Europe," said RB's Managing Director of Sport, Marcel Schäfer.
Offensive talent with plenty of experience
Nusa is regarded as an attacking talent who can play on both wings and centrally in the ten-man position. The seven-time Norwegian international moved to Bruges from his training club Stabaek in 2021, played 86 games for the Belgian side and won the league twice and the Super Cup once. He scored seven goals for FC and provided six assists.
Before Nusa, RB had signed goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt (RK Genk) and Assan Ouédraogo (FC Schalke 04). Xavi Simons (Paris Saint-Germain/loan) is also staying. Further transfers are being planned, but they are more likely to strengthen the defense.
