Handball Bundesliga club ThSV Eisenach will once again be relying on a Swiss playmaker in future. The team from Wartburg has signed 21-year-old Felix Aellen from BSV Bern for the new season. The international, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2028, is the top scorer in the Swiss league with 158 goals; at the World Championship in January, he was the third-best scorer for the Swiss team with 18 goals and 11 assists.
"We are very happy that we were able to bring Felix to Eisenach," said ThSV manager René Witte and emphasized: "He is one of the most promising talents in his position and was one of the shooting stars of the World Championship in January. This deal had already been agreed with our new head coach, which is why we are particularly pleased that it has now worked out."
Aellen will take over from Simone Mengon, who is leaving the club. Eisenach recently had the best experience with Swiss playmaker Manuel Zehnder, who now plays for champions SC Magdeburg. Sebastian Hinze, currently still at Rhein-Neckar Löwen, will take over as ThSV head coach for the new season, succeeding the Swiss Misha Kaufmann.
