Next injury: Lukeba misses RB for two months

RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose is running out of personnel ahead of the DFB Cup match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday (8.45pm/Sky and ZDF), which will also set the tone for the club. One day before the game, the Saxons announced the absence of Castello Lukeba. The Frenchman suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh against VfL Wolfsburg (1:5) on Saturday and will be out for two months. This makes him the eighth long-term injury in the already thin RB squad.

However, Rose does not want to lament and is hoping for a turnaround against a "very strong opponent". After six unsuccessful games in November, his job is in jeopardy. The 48-year-old knows that too. "I can say what I want: I need a success to calm the issue down again or we'll keep firing it up," said Rose, emphasizing, "I'm calm myself, I'm standing up straight."

The coach also knows how quickly everything changes in soccer and believes in his team. "We're talking about the chance to turn it around. Maybe we'll achieve something really big again in May and then we'll sit there and say: Do you remember the press conference in December and we talked about really difficult topics," said Rose.

He will definitely make a change in goal compared to the Wolfsburg game. As in the cup match against FC St. Pauli (4:2), Maarten Vandevoordt will play in place of Peter Gulacsi. "I have full confidence in him. He's a great kid, a great goalkeeper in excellent shape. He deserves the chance. He radiates something, he gives us something," said Rose.
