Transfer of Dani Olmo to FC Barcelona becomes more concrete

A transfer of RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo to FC Barcelona is becoming more concrete, according to a media report. A meeting between Barcelona's sporting director Deco, Olmo's advisors Juanma Lopez and Andy Bara and his father Miquel is said to have taken place last Wednesday. According to Mundo Deportivo, it was a positive discussion in which Deco made it clear that a transfer of Olmo in the summer was a priority.

The 25-year-old only extended his contract at Leipzig until 2027 last June, but had a release clause agreed. This means that the Spanish international can leave Leipzig for Barcelona for 60 million euros. However, the transfer fee appears to be a problem for the financially strapped Barça. According to the report, the club hopes to be able to pay Leipzig the sum in installments.

Olmo comes from Barcelona's youth academy La Masia. Due to a lack of prospects, he moved to Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 17 and was signed by Leipzig six years later. Olmo is one of the key players for the Saxons, but also has to deal with frequent injuries. This season, Olmo missed eleven games in the Bundesliga alone due to two injuries.
