Next year, Hoyerswerda (Bautzen district) will host the 26th State Harvest Festival. Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) announced this decision on Wednesday together with Marko Klimann, Managing Director of the Saxon State Board of Trustees for Rural Areas (SLK).
Schmidt congratulated Hoyerswerda, according to a statement. The town will combine the festival with its traditional town festival weekend. "I am already certain that we will once again experience a wonderful state harvest festival next year." It is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 14, 2025.
"Hoyerswerda combines tradition and modernity, rural areas and urban life like hardly any other city," said Klimann. The SLK is looking forward to very good cooperation with the city in preparing the festival.

According to the press release, the State Harvest Festival is the second-largest state-wide folk festival after the Day of the Saxons with an average of 50,000 visitors. It has been held annually at different locations since 1998, this year for the 25th time from September 27 to 29 in Mittweida (Mittelsachsen district).
