He photographed the night and club scene and the most important personalities of pop culture. Wolfgang Tillmans will soon be showing new works in Dresden - in dialog with older art.

With an exhibition entitled "Space" at the Albertinum in Dresden, the internationally acclaimed photographer Wolfgang Tillmans will be giving an insight into his work from the beginning of March. According to the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen (SKD), this is the first major exhibition in a museum in Germany for more than half a decade. Following extensive retrospectives in the USA and Canada, it will show a cross-section of the diverse work of the artist, who "Die Zeit" called the "most imaginative picture inventor of the present day", until the end of June.

New works created since 2022 will be on display for the first time in this setting: including abstract photography, portraits of contemporaries, friends and encounters, serially developed landscape paintings and temporary sculptures. Some of Tillman's large-format pictorial inventions from the present are in dialog with artworks from past centuries in the SKD collection.
