Ahmet Arslan is leaving second-division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg to play for third-division side Rot-Weiss Essen. As the Magdeburg club announced, they have terminated the contract with the 30-year-old attacker. Arslan joined the club last summer from Holstein Kiel, who were later promoted. He played nine games for 1. FC Magdeburg in the first half of the season, scoring two goals. For the second half of the season, Arslan was loaned out to third-division side Dynamo Dresden, for whom he played 13 games.
