Unlike the previous finals, this year there will be money for both finalists in the Saxon Cup.

The Saxon Football Association (SFV) has changed its regulations especially for the 34th final of the Saxon Football Cup on Saturday (15:45/ARD). After the match between Dynamo Dresden and FC Erzgebirge Aue, both clubs and the association will each receive a one-third share of the proceeds from ticket sales. This was announced by SFV president Hermann Winkler during a press conference on Wednesday.

The reason for this is the fact that both finalists have qualified for the DFB Cup due to Dresden's direct entry into the competition as the fourth-placed team in the 3rd division.

Until now, the winner of the final was left empty-handed when it came to distributing the money. "In the DFB Cup, there is a decent starting bonus. But we also want to reward the finalists who have fought their way through to the final. This year, however, both teams are playing in the DFB Cup. That's why we reacted quickly after negotiations with both clubs and changed the rules. We think it's a fair solution for this final," said Winkler.

To date, 23,000 tickets have been sold for the final. This means that the match is already by far the best-attended Saxon Cup final in history. Aue has called up all 2700 tickets available. It is unusual in the Free State of Saxony for both clubs to be allocated an equal number of tickets, as is the case in the DFB Cup final. "This is not possible for purely organizational and security reasons," said the association.
