Vanessa Fudalla has fired RB Leipzig's women's soccer team to an important victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. The striker scored in the 11th minute and stoppage time (90.+1) on Friday to secure a 2:1 (1:0) victory for the promoted team, who thus gained some breathing space in the fight to stay in the league. Leipzig have picked up seven points from their last three games. For Champions League participants Frankfurt, only winter newcomer Chiba Remina (90.+2) scored shortly before the final whistle to tie the game.
The hosts were particularly impressive in the second half with good defensive work and targeted forward actions. Despite 7:16 shots on goal, they were always on the ball and had the outstanding player in Fudalla, who took over the sole lead in the goalscoring charts with her seventh and eighth goals of the season. Gianna Rackow, who was back on the pitch for the first time 321 days after suffering a complicated ankle injury, was substituted in stoppage time.
