The Bundesliga handball team SC DHfK Leipzig have reached the last 16 of the DHB Cup in commanding style. The team of coach Runar Sigtryggsson won clearly 32:23 (14:6) at second-division club TuS N-Lübbecke. SC DHfK's best scorer was Lukas Binder with nine goals.
The Leipzig club got off to a sluggish start and initially made an unusual number of technical mistakes. However, their strong 5:1 defense paralyzed the home side's flow of play to such an extent that they still led 5:2 after twelve minutes. SC DHfK then stepped up the pace in attack and pulled 11:4 ahead in the 25th minute, although Lübbecke's goalkeeper Leon Grabenstein thwarted a number of chances. However, Leipzig's goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras also shone at the other end with nine saves up to the break.
After the break, the visitors' intensity in defense waned. Nevertheless, they remained in control at all times and extended their lead to 21:11 by the 44th minute. However, Lübbecke, who had only parted company with head coach Michael Haaß on Monday after a poor start to the season, did not let themselves down and played their part in an open exchange of blows in the final phase.
