SC DHfK Leipzig and HC Erlangen agree on a player swap. The Saxons are giving up a key player at their own request and receiving a U21 world champion in return.

The handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig are transferring Icelandic international Viggo Kristjansson to Bundesliga rivals HC Erlangen. In return, the German U21 world champion Stephan Seitz is moving to Saxony. "With him, we're getting a player with development potential who can take the pressure off Franz Semper at right back," commented Sporting Director Bastian Roscheck.

Kristjansson is leaving the team in twelfth place in the table at his own request, as the club announced. "Viggo was a central component in our sporting planning, as he is versatile and has that certain X-factor. Of course, we are losing a top player in Viggo for the second half of the season and are taking a sporting risk," said Leipzig's managing director Karsten Günther.
