RB Leipzig playmaker Kevin Kampl has television plans for the time after his career. The 34-year-old would like to take part in the RTL show "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus" (I'm a star - get me out of here), which is known as the jungle camp.
"I've been watching it for 20 years. I also said to my wife: "I want to get in there one day too", said the professional from the Bundesliga soccer team in the Bild podcast "Phrasenmäher". His wife reacted with the words "you've got a bird".
Teammate Lukas Klostermann would definitely watch Kampl in the jungle. "I would even call for him. I have to say, I'd really like to see that. I'd be interested to see how he does there," said the international. "I'm not 100 percent interested in it myself, to be honest."
In his free time, Kampl likes to get the toughness he needs for the jungle trials by fishing. On vacation on his favorite island of Mallorca, the former Slovenian international fishes on the high seas. "Then we go out to sea and fish for huge tuna. Last summer, I hooked a 120-kilo thing and it almost pulled me into the water with it," Kampl reported. The fish pulled him away along with the rod.
