The FCE falls behind in the first minute. The turnaround is perfect in stoppage time.

FC Erzgebirge Aue secured a last-minute win in their first match of the 3rd soccer league in the new year. The FCE won 2:1 (0:1) against Rot-Weiss Essen on Friday evening. The goals were scored by Marcel Bär (61) and Mirnes Pepic in stoppage time (90.+4) in front of 6569 spectators at the Erzgebirgsstadion. The hosts had fallen behind in the first minute through a goal from Isiah Young.

It could not have started any worse for Aue. Leonardo Vonic fought his way through the Aue defense and laid the ball off to Young, who put the ball past FCE keeper Martin Männel 58 seconds after the kick-off. It took the hosts 20 minutes to recover. However, they failed to take their chances before the break.

At the start of the second half, the RWE fans set off fireworks, which led to a brief stoppage in play. After just over an hour, Aue had a chance to counter after a corner from RWE: Omar Sijaric opened the scoring with a long sprint and laid the ball off to Bär in the penalty area (61'), who only had to slide the ball in to make it 1:1. After that, both teams were strong offensively and looked to take the lead, which Aue rewarded themselves with in stoppage time.
