FC Erzgebirge Aue have lost their third game in a row. The third-division soccer club lost 3-0 (0-1) at Waldhof Mannheim in the Carl-Benz Stadium. In front of 11,334 spectators in Mannheim, Terence Boyd (32nd minute), Kelvin Arase (78th) and Kennedy Okpala (90.+4) scored for the hosts.
In an intense first half, Boyd in particular had the best chances for Mannheim. As early as the second minute, he put the ball just millimeters past the left post. Although the visitors from Aue had the ball more often, they did not create much in attack without their top scorer Marcel Bär, who was out with the flu. In the 32nd minute, Martin Kobylanski found his teammate Boyd with a high cross in the penalty area, who scored with his head to make it 1-0 for Mannheim.
In the second half, too, the Violets were simply unable to find the net in the final third. Ricky Bornschein, who made his starting debut as a substitute for Bär, was hardly able to create any dangerous situations. A joker goal finally made the difference. Kelvin Arase (78), who had come on as a substitute just two minutes earlier, was able to hold onto the ball after a strong deep run and scored with his second touch to make it 2:0. The Auer team were unable to do anything offensively and things got even worse. In a one-on-one against Anthony Barylla, Kennedy Okpala (90.+4) prevailed and scored humorlessly to make the final score 3-0.
