- Manuel Riemann became a Bochum hero in October 2023. The goalkeeper saved two penalties and played a big part in the 0-0 draw in Leipzig. Bochum and Riemann are now in a legal dispute after the veteran was removed from the squad shortly before the relegation play-off against Fortuna Düsseldorf and excluded from professional training for the time being.
- Speaking of penalties: Leipzig have been awarded four penalties in their three Bundesliga home games against Bochum so far. Only one was converted in total.
- VfL have had problems scoring goals in Leipzig in the Bundesliga. They failed to score three times in a row. In addition to the 0:0, there was a 0:3 in October 2021 and a 0:4 in October 2022.
- RB Leipzig almost traditionally have problems at the start of the season. The club has lost half of its previous encounters on matchday 1. Last season they lost at eventual champions Leverkusen, the year before they drew in Stuttgart and in 2021/22 they started with a defeat in Mainz.
- Peter Gulacsi is a guarantee that Leipzig's defense will remain stable - especially against Bochum. The Hungarian international goalkeeper has won all six of his competitive matches against Bochum, conceding just two goals in 540 minutes.
