After a successful pre-season, the Niners Chemnitz want to attack the top again this year. The club has found what it is looking for in Sweden for the vacant forward position.

Basketball Bundesliga club Niners Chemnitz is continuing to work on its squad for the new season. The Saxons have announced the signing of American CJ Penha for the vacant forward position. The 2.01-metre tall wing player was previously under contract with the Swedish double-winning Norrköping Dolphins and has signed in Karl-Marx-Stadt until the summer of 2026.

"At 24, CJ is only at the start of his professional career, but with his skills he can develop into a key player for our team," Niners Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore was quoted as saying in the press release.

"The conversations with coach Rodrigo Pastore immediately impressed me with his style and goals. I want to be a part of that and will throw everything into it at both ends of the field," Penha said of his reasons for transferring. "I'm convinced that we can win a lot of games across all competitions next season."

The Fiba Europe Cup winners had previously had to say goodbye to six players from the previous regular rotation - above all top performer Kevin Yebo. Penha is the fifth new signing after Nicholas Tischler, Eddy Edigin, Olivier Nkamhoua and Roman Bedime.
