Attacker Davie Selke from Hamburger SV understands the reservations against him. "I absolutely want to win and I can't lose, whether in training or in a game. That's why I can even understand that many people who only know me from television or the soccer pitch have a bad image of me," the 29-year-old told the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper.
"Many people tell me that I'm not such an asshole, such a douchebag, such an arrogant guy as they thought," the new addition to the second-division club told the newspaper. "It's just important to me that the people who really know me have a good impression of me," he added.
Selke joined the Hanseatic club in the summer. So far, the Schorndorf native has not scored a goal in four league games. In the DFB Cup, he contributed a goal in the 7:1 win in Meppen. In his career, he has been under contract with Werder Bremen, RB Leipzig, Hertha BSC and, most recently, 1. FC Köln. Hamburger SV will host newly promoted Jahn Regensburg on Sunday (13:30/Sky).
