There is no better way to start the World Cup season. Beijing Olympic champion Nolte takes both victories in Altenberg. Her biggest rival makes her comeback.

Olympic champion Laura Nolte has also won the two-man bobsleigh race after the monobob. The 26-year-old from Winterberg won in Altenberg with her Potsdam push athlete Deborah Levi, 0.65 seconds ahead of World Champion Lisa Buckwitz (BRC Thüringen) and Neele Schuten (TV Gladbeck). Kim Kalicki from Wiesbaden and Lauryn Siebert from Winterberg completed the German one-two-three.

"A great start to the season," said Nolte, who won gold in the two-man bobsleigh with Levi at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. In the first of two runs, she improved her own track record by nine hundredths of a second to 55.99 seconds.

Three-time Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries finished fifth in her World Cup comeback after the birth of her son Aulden six months ago. The 39-year-old pilot won three of her five World Championship titles in Altenberg and will also be the German's biggest rival at the 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

"A lot will happen in the three months, she will be fit at the start at the World Championships in Lake Placid," said Nolte.
